The annual Russian Ballet Icons Gala in London has been organised by Ensemble Productions since 2006. The Gala celebrates the legacy of the famed Russian Ballet School and pays tribute to its legendary dancers.
The 2019 Gala will again become a highlight in the ballet lovers’ calendar featuring captivating classical masterpieces and exploring contemporary repertoire created by today’s leading choreographers from Russia and world-wide, whose work has been influenced by Russian Ballet.
The programme will feature performances by the principal dancers of the Bolshoi, Mariinsky, Royal Ballet, English National Ballet, Grand Opera Paris, Berlin Staatsoper, Boston Ballet, Ballet of Monte Carlo and others, and will be another unforgettable event, setting new standards in the ballet experience!
Among confirmed ballet dancers are Maria Alexandrova (Guest Principal of the Bolshoi Theatre), Elisa Carrillo Cabrera (Principal of the Staatsballett Berlin), Jeffrey Cirio (Principal of the English National Ballet), Mikhail Kaniskin (Principal of the Staatsballett Berlin), Maria Kochetkova (ex-Principal of both the American Ballet Theatre.
and San Francisco Ballet), Lucía Lacarra (permanent Guest Dancer of the Dortmund Ballet, Russell Maliphant Ballet and the Víctor Ullate Ballet), Kimin Kim (Principal of the Mariinsky Theatre), Misa Kuranaga (Principal of the Boston Ballet), Vladislav Lantratov (Principal of the Bolshoi Theatre), Jasmine Naghdi (Principal of the Royal Ballet), Xander Parish (Principal of the Mariinsky Theatre), Polina Semionova (Principal of both the Staatsballett Berlin and the American Ballet Theatre), Daniil Simkin (Principal of the Staatsballett Berlin), Josué Ullate (the Víctor Ullate Ballet) and Ivan Vasiliev (Principal of the Mikhailovsky Theatre).
The Gala will be accompanied by the English National Ballet Philharmonic Orchestra under the direction of Valery Ovsyannikov. After the performance at the London Coliseum, there will be a VIP Gala Dinner held at the prestigious Savoy Hotel. The Savoy is just steps away from the performance venue and perfectly placed in the heart of one of the world’s most exciting cities on the bank of the River Thames. The Gala Dinner will be served in the iconic Lancaster Ballroom where Anna Pavlova rehearsed on several occasions. Sergei Diaghilev was also a regular visitor to the Savoy amongst other world ballet stars at the time.
There will be a short welcome reception, including drinks held in the River Room, followed by a three-course dinner in the Lancaster Ballroom. Admission to the Lancaster Ballroom is by name only. Dress code for the evening is Black Tie. VIP guests will have a unique opportunity to meet the artists and take memorable photos with them. The exclusive atmosphere, the delicious menu prepared by the Savoy team and the unique programme will make this an unforgettable evening! Additionally, at the end of the evening there will be an opportunity to share a dancefloor with star ballet dancers. The Gala Dinner will be attended by the esteemed ballet dancers, as well as members of the Royal Family, distinguished guests, celebrities, cultural and business leaders and socialites.
